It was a whirlwind of a week, and I'm afraid my exit from NC was just as hurried. There were many friends and fellow potters that I didn't get a chance to visit.
The firing itself went well. Although Julie aims to fire for 12-14 hours in the future, for the first firing we took quite a bit longer. The kiln was still quite wet from rebuilding the firebox, so we took our time drying everything out. After we built up some heat and the firebox was more or less dry the kiln seemed to tick along nicely with no real hitches in finishing the first or second chamber.

Wow! I love that photo, too. There is something awfully beautiful about that familiar glow coming out of a kiln.

looks like you have been incredibly busy Joe....Just catching up on everything since being away also its so good to see julies kiln all up and ready!! heres to your next making cycle too and have a great summer!!!
