the good and the sad news

First, the good news. Spring is on the way! We thought that we were going to have to slog through the snow while loading the kiln, but most of the white has given way to brown and (possibly imagined) green.

Joe and I are also excited about the pieces we have ready for this firing. What we are missing in quantity in this firing (it will certainly be loosely stacked!) we are making up for in quality. Here is a mini-preview of pots for the March 2010:

large jars

large serving bowl

triangular vases

We have had a bit of a rough week here at Windy Ridge--we lost our sweet kitty Miss Priss on Thursday when she was hit by a car. We miss her shoulder-riding, acrobatics in the barn rafters, and readiness to snuggle. When we brought Winks and Miss Priss home two years ago, I remember telling myself that barn cats sometime have short lives, but it's hard to be consoled by that thought right now.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. It is so difficult to lose a loved pet. Outdoor kitties live an independent life and would not be happy kept confined inside so they have a whole different world to deal with! She was loved and cared for and had a great life and that is the important part.

thanks for the kind words. miss priss did have quite a grand, if short, life. she had plenty of mice and birds for entertainment, a cozy place to sleep, and a kitty brother, dog, and lots of people who adored her!
