A long week recaped in a short post

Well I made it safely to NC and have been busy helping Julie get ready for the first firing. First order of business was to rebuild the top bit of the firebox. A big thanks to Michael Hunt as he generously took an afternoon to share his experience and knowledge with tatami brick construction. The rebuild went smoothly...

After all the tatami brick were in place I pounded the tatami bricks in with a rubber mallet to tighten the arch up. After that... I did a little jig....

Matt, Bob, and Julie all pitched in to help insulate and stucco...

Yeah, sorry guys I'm a little beat so I'll wrap up the post there. The first chamber is loaded, second chamber tomorrow, firing this Saturday.... should be good.

Thanks for the informative and entertaining post. As your mom, I especially liked the picture of the jig!

The firebox was definitely jig worthy. It is near perfect. The best firebox I've ever seen!
