A quick round up of news

The firing is quickly approaching. I'm in the last week of making pots, loading starts next Monday. A young potter from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is coming out tomorrow to help with wood prep, and will also be around for the loading/firing. Looks like we will have a full kiln.

Unglazed pots for the first chamber

Glazed work, and work in progress

extra shelf space we made this winter, complete with track lights!

Christy's also been making time on occasion to come out and decorate a pot or two.

Krista Loomans came over the other day with a portable wheel!

How cool is that! You can't see it from the picture, but it has legs underneath that fold out. It's a surprisingly nice wheel, it's owned by Bethel Horizons who Krista works for. Krista and I had an enjoyable day throwing together, and chit chatting. It's was good fun, and we are hoping to make a regular occasion of it.

Last and not least we found ourselves a pugmill!

just about the biggest vacuum pump you've ever seen

the pug mill itself is clogged full of dried clay and hasn't been used in 10 years, but it was working when they last used it, so with a little elbow grease it should be up and going.... best part? $100.

Sorry if the post is a little scattered... lots going on.... and past time for me to go to bed....

Wow - congratulations on the pug mill!! I hope it cleans up and works as well as you hope. And Christy, I love the decoration on the tall vase - really lovely.

I'm coveting that wheel. Is it a Speedball?

Julia,
I have to admit I almost wrote back to you saying "well I have no idea what a speedball is, but the wheel is made by Creative Industries." Luckily I looked it up before making an ass of myself. It looks like Speedball bought out Creative Industries. So... yep, it's Speedball.
I have to admit I coveted the wheel as well, even though I have no real use for a portable wheel what so ever.
